Michael and Peter read history at Oxford and then qualified as solicitors. In 1981 they started Argent with the desire to create a significant business which made real products very well and had a reputation for fair dealing.
Since stepping down as chief executives in 1998, they have remained closely involved in Argent, both as non-executives and as investors in all Argent's projects. They have also personally invested in a wide-range of non property businesses. Outside Argent, Michael is now focussing on his first love, world history. He is also a Trustee of the Royal Parks Foundation. Peter is Chairman of MGt plc, Puma Brandenburg and Freeman Business Information and vice-chairman of the Investment Property Forum. Peter is currently a non-executive director of MEPC and was a non-executive director of Land Securities from 2002 to 2004.
