Argent is working in a joint venture with The Miller Group to reclaim 1,000 acres of acutely derelict land, resulting from two hundred years of industrial use and abuse, near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales.
An operational company has been formed in partnership with Miller to extract the remaining coal from the site to fund the reclamation works. Extracted coal travels from the site’s rail head 42 miles down the local line to Aberthaw power station where it assists in generating electricity for over 40% of South Wales. Aberthaw has recently fitted flue gas desulphurisation and is spearheading a carbon capture pilot project.
To generate further revenues, potential opportunities are being considered, such as an Energy from Waste Plant and a brick factory.

The land holding at Ffos-y-fran extends over 3,500 acres and will create many other business opportunities.
We are now actively looking for further large scale reclamation schemes, with potential development opportunities.
