Along the way, we have learnt a great deal about managing construction and the risk it represents.
Theoretically, construction is simple. You put one component on top of another, step by step. In reality, the construction process depends on many thousands of components being erected and assembled together, without major mistakes and regardless of weather.
So only the most organised and motivated teams can complete projects on time and within budget. That is why we work closely with our contractors and sub-contractors, involving them in the design process, benchmarking costs and sharing information. We also share any savings achieved. It's all part of partnering.
In recent years we have partnered with HBG and Carillion in London, Birmingham, Reading and Manchester. Together, we have delivered buildings on time and on budget.
We aim to improve all aspects of our 'delivery' at King's Cross, including making the optimum use of prefabrication and other modern methods of construction and developing the best motivated and qualified workforce.
